World's Biggest Trees

One of the highest trees in the world of this type of Giant Sequoia has reached a height of 85 meters. She is expected between 2200 to 2700 years. The tree is named "General Sherman", is expected not only is one of the highest, but also a kind of Sequoia is the largest in terms of volume.In 2002 this tree ever measured volume of 1487 cubic meters.



Sherman Tree is located in Sequoia National Park in Visalia, Calif., named thus taken from the name of an American civil war veteran General William Tecumseh Sherman. James Wolverton a Lieutenant in the 9th Indiana Cavalry under Sherman named this tree with the name of his boss in 1879.This tree was already awarded the title as the largest since 1931 seen from the factor of the volume.

Measured from its dimensions, Sherman tree, indicating a larger each year.Its diameter is 1.4 meters above ground is 7.7 meters, diameter of 18 meters above ground is 5.3 meters, diameter of 55 meters above ground is 4.3 meters, and height of the first branch of the land is about 40 meters.
